PBLSAT HELPS SERVE UP WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS

PBLSat, specialists in Occasional Use satellite services, have successfully delivered transmission services throughout this year's Wimbledon Championships for four of its international clients.

PBLSat had four Ku band flyaways based at Wimbledon and were responsible for the international satellite and fibre delivery for IMG Media, Sky Italia, NTV Russia and a major US broadcaster.

For IMG Media, PBLSat provided their European HD transmission service along with 27MHz of its own leased capacity on the popular Atlantic Bird 1 satellite. The Ku band flyaway used DVBS2 technology to ensure the highest possible quality was achieved within the 27MHz of satellite capacity. "PBLSat offered an efficient and practical solution with an excellent level of service throughout the Championship" said Stephen Farr, Engineering Manager at IMG.

PBLSat’s reputation for delivering HD was also a key factor for NTV-PLUS Russia who chose PBLSat to provide an HD uplink and satellite capacity for the duration of the event. PBLSat provided a Ku band flyaway and satellite capacity on Intelsat IS-12.

The solution that PBLSat chose for Sky Italia, who required a permanent lease for the event, was capacity on the popular Eutelsat W2. Working in SD PBLSat provided uplink facilities and 9MHz satellite capacity.

PBLSat provided its US client with an HD fibre lease from location through to New York using 20Mbts of PBLSat’s dedicated fibre between London and the U.S. PBLSat also provided an 18MHz satellite redundant path for the final two days using satellite capacity on Telstar 12.
